A slow, relaxing loop of exploration, collection, and growth.

Gameplay

  • Explore the forest and harvest wandering souls
  • Return them to the Mother Tree
  • Use souls to build relics and structures

very fun game and all but i was searching for 3d Platformers how did this end up in my collection?

I found two "hidden" upgrades! Healthy Salad and Fancy Backpack. They don't seem to do anything at all, but I was able to invest a bunch of essence into them.

Like the game's concept art and gameplay but there are some problems.

Actual bug: If you press E too fast on the portal you get a blackscreen that requires refresh.

Critique: My main reason for stopping is constantly getting stuck on trees and stuff in combination with the frame drops/lags on map 2. Idk if its because of the rain but map 2 is super laggy which makes it feel like youre moving slow af and personally, it's incredibly annoying to get stuck on random shrubs/trees. I'm sure this is a gameplay design aspect that im just not a fan of. Also, would be nice if hold to deposit didnt deposit everything at once, maybe a grdual increase of speed.

Thanks for the feedback! We're working on a new version with bug fixes and improvements.

This is a very charming, fresh take on an existing concept.

Here are my criticisms:

The start seemed glitchy. I had one soul but had to go get another just to feed the tree its first one.

The pacing was awkward. Early game I had to do several runs without any upgrades that change how the run goes. Late game I could buy my way through several levels of a newly unlocked artifact.

The first round of artifacts only give you economy bonuses, which at that point don't let you buy anything except economy bonuses.

The Dark Cemetery, for me, performed just a little bit worse than the Enchanted Forest, all game long.

The plant growing aspect was unintuitive, with the plants fruiting then wilting, unharvested, while I wasn't even looking at them. And now that I did figure it out, it seems like it is not useful at all. Even if harvesting always worked, you have to waste valuable time in a run collecting plant seeds.

If holding E to deposit as many souls as possible was explained, I missed it. Holding E to gradually deposit many over time would be more intuitive anyway.

Maybe this is a nitpick but I think the tutorial signs damage the charming atmosphere.

Thanks for trying it out! We're collecting all the feedback and already working on fixes. An update will be out soon!

game is unplayably laggy. Like all my inputs past the main menu are getting eaten and I can't move. Probably a firefox thing? Please make a downloadable version because this looks very cool :D

yeah jjust opened it in chrome and its fine. Sad that it doesn't work on some browsers though

We're working on it, thanks for stepping by! Were you able to play after changing the browser?

Gameplay loop reminds me of Shelldiver.

Graphics are superb.

When activating portal the little zoom in animation has to finish before you can press e to enter a level. Feels little unresponsive.

I would make holding E to deposit all either gradual or add som indicator that the deposit all is "charging". For a long time I thought it's not working.

Thanks for the feedback! We'll work on those things for a next update

Is there a downloaded option? The web window stutters heavily. Firefox Win 11.

Hi! Thanks for the feedback, we’ll fix it today <3 Were you able to play OK after that?

Yeah. Its a good game. I'd personally ask for a music or sound button. Else i had to tab out when answering  frequent work calls.

I've beat the demo. The demo end screen is not english.

The graveyard is a scam, till the very end, you always get more in the forest. The big souls are difficult to chase even with max speed. Maybe make big souls 40 (80) making them more lucrative. The graveyard is more difficult to walk around, so feels like a more proper reward for the skill.

I didn't get the plants. I grow them. They grow up with no berries. I collect them but nothing happens.

The max lattern is hard to understand where the circle is. Maybe add just a tiny circle for it to be a bit clearer, but its not a big issue.

When you spawn, you can go down to infinity. Maybe a barrier just out of the screen. Feels a tiny bit jank. I loved that you can go out of the hub forrest though.

The balance felt fine. Best strategy is to focus the conversion amount. Really wanted a soul catching speed upgrade, but thats fine as well. I guess thats the unimplemented lvl5 upgrades near the tree?

Kept getting stuck on terrain in both maps. Wish you could just... "dash" through it with spacebar or something to catch up with an escaping soul or big soul.

The multiple portal places on the map are very good and pleasant animation. Too bad they dont do anything. Maybe stepping on a portal gives a few seconds speed boots or something?

Over all. Very very good. ⁹/10 so far, if you keep adding content.
